Dr. Pawan Shrestha
CEO & Co - founder
Pawan is a Cambridge University PhD graduate and Schiff scholar, specializing in designing Spatial Light Modulators for 3D holographic displays. His research led to collaborations with Samsung Electronics and other leading tech companies during his doctoral and postdoctoral work, earning him three Blue Sky Awards. In 2022, Pawan co-founded Lark Optics alongside Dr. Xin Chang and Prof. Daping Chu. He was also honored with a Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellowship.
Dr. Xin Chang

Xin completed his doctoral studies at Cambridge University, within Prof. Daping Chu’s research group. His research primarily focused on nanomaterials and nanofabrication techniques, especially in their application for optically addressed spatial light modulators (OASLMs). During his time as a postdoc, Xin gained valuable experience from industrial collaborations and received two Blue Sky awards. Xin is a co-founder and the CTO of Lark Optics, alongside Dr. Pawan Shrestha and Prof. Daping Chu.
Prof. Daping Chu

Professor Daping Chu holds the Chair of Technology and Innovation at University of Cambridge, and he is also the Director of the Cambridge Centre for Photonic Devices and Sensors (CPDS) and the Director of Centre for Advanced Photonics and Electronics (CAPE). His current research works are in phase-only LCOS devices and OASLMs, programmable and tunable metasurfaces, 3D holography, AR/VR HMDs and HUDs, including the demonstration of first OAM multi-view colour display, accommodation-free colour HMD, and 2D beam steering and stacked WSSs.
